When you highlight or select text on a webpage, the extension accesses that selected text so it can be converted into speech.
The selected text is processed only when you actively select content or trigger the reading feature.
Highlight & Read does not store selected webpage text on Techlithic-owned servers.
Extension Preferences
The extension may store preferences such as:
- Selected voice
- Reading speed
- Whether automatic reading is enabled

These settings are stored locally through Chrome’s extension storage functionality so that your preferences can be remembered between browsing sessions.
3. Information We Do Not Collect

Techlithic does not control how third-party browser or operating system services independently process information. Their use of data is governed by their respective privacy policies and terms.
6. Data Storage
User preferences such as voice selection and reading speed may be stored locally using Chrome extension storage.
Techlithic does not maintain a server-side database containing selected webpage text from Highlight & Read users.
Locally stored preferences generally remain available until:
- The extension settings are reset
- Browser data is cleared
- The extension is removed
- Chrome otherwise removes the locally stored extension data
7. Data Sharing
Techlithic does not sell, rent, or trade personal information collected through Highlight & Read.
We do not transfer user data to third parties for advertising, marketing, or profiling purposes.
Data accessed by the extension is used only as necessary to provide its user-facing text-to-speech functionality.
8. Permissions Used by Highlight & Read
